Just like real-estate, location can be really important in photography… The location always enhances a picture, well not always…but as long as there are not too many distracting elements in the background, you are good to go. I am on the look-out for areas with any of the following: cool wood, urban feel, beautiful natural settings with different textures. It could be a place you pass by everyday but never realized how cool it could be. That’s usually how I find my locations! All of you native Utah peeps, or even people who have lived here for awhile may have an upper-hand at knowing some cool places. If you know of any, please e-mail me of location info…if your location gets chosen, you will win a complimentary mini-session with muah and we will use your location for the photo shoot!
Entry deadline is April 15th.
E-mail your location/picture with your name and location address to: sanaejames@gmail.com
Aren’t they so cute? Kiera and Jason have known each other for a couple of years now. While I was driving them around, I asked Kiera,” Soooo…..was it love at first sight or what?!?” And she simple stated. ”No.” And explained that when Jason had originally asked her out, she wasn’t interested. She went on to say that it wasn’t like he pursued her since he was going out with a lot of other girls… But the fact remained, Jason was into Kiera. And fate would have them end up going out and them falling head over heels for each other. I love hearing love stories of how people met. It always reminds me of when I first met my husband. Kiera’s story reminded me kind of when I met Rob.
When I met Rob for the first time, it was through another good friend of ours. It wasn’t like a date or anything, but we went out to the movies. My roommate, me, Rob, and our friend Keli’i. We ended up hanging out all night and the whole time I was thinking…” Man, this boy is cute, but soooooo boring.” Funny thing, he was thinking that I wasn’t dressed real cute. To my defense, I didn’t really “get ready” for the outing. We didn’t end up hanging out again for a couple more months, but things just ended up “working out.” and I’m glad it did because I must say, I’m the lucky one.
So Kiera & Jason…check out your sneak peak. I hope you like it. You guys are simply adorable.
Oooooh! The wind how it caught your hair Kiera!
This has got to be your engagement picture. I mean…you guys just simply look ADORABLE!
Check out the BLIIING.
Kiera, you are stunning.
I love this one.
Lyndsie is not only gorgeous, but smart and athletic to boot. When she’s not dancing on Lehi High School’s Drill team, she’s causing some ruckus on the Debate team. THE FULL PACKAGE PEOPLE!!!
From the moment I met her, I knew I would love her. She’s so spunky and fun and knows how to work the camera. I love her style–I was DYING. She had a killer silverish dress that rocked my world. Literally. So instead of trying to choose my favorites from the shoot–because I couldn’t even narrow it down, I just started edited. Every time I looked at a picture I was like–ooooh love it. Then I’d turn to another and say the same thing. I figured I’d just post a picture from each set we did. There are a TON more killer shots but I just couldn’t get them in.
Lydsie–I hope you like your sneak peek because it really is just a sneak peek. More to come! You really rocked it like America’s Next Top Model! :)
Because she’s a dancer, I had to get one of her “stretching”
Love her hair. Period.
One of my favorites on the left. It looks like she’s in an ad for a magazine or something. I love the lighting and her gorgeous face!
See what I mean? Don’t you just love this dress?!? And of course..she worked the camera like a seasoned pro.
I’ve had a few people ask me about my camera equipment so here’s the low down on the goods:
Camera: Canon 5D Mark II
Lens:
Favorites right now are my 135/2.0 L , and my 50/1.2 L–these produce such crisp and creamy shots. Can’t say enough about how awesome my 135 is, and the 50 is just a great all-around lens and my go-to.
100 macro–I use this mainly for ring shots, and those really close detail shots. It is MARVELOUS!
24-70/2.8 L
16-35/2.8 L–great for those wide angle shots!
So here is the deal. I love my mark II, but to be completely honest, I hate recomposing, and am eying the Mark IV right now. Although there is a slight crop factor, it has 49 focus points, which is what I am dying to have. Nikon users already have that. But I do love my lenses with Canon so I’m toying with the idea of getting the Mark IV in the near future. I am also thinking of getting the 70-200/ 2.8 IS L lens to add to my arsenal, but I just haven’t needed quite yet. I mostly shoot with prime lenses. They are my FAVORITE by far. I think I get a better feel and compose my pictures better when I am really getting in there. The detail is so crisp, too!
