My Neck of the Woods..Part I

You would think that by looking at these pictures I live out in the middle of nowhere. But it’s just good ‘ol Lehi. I guess you can say the great thing about my neighborhood is that we have the best of both worlds–Target 5 minutes away, and horses and farms down the street. I guess that’s life here in Utah. I remember my cousin telling me when they first moved to Utah from California that one of the things their 6 year old was most excited about was seeing cows and horses! I was thinking in my head that she was probably going to be disappointed since Utah has become so “hustle and bustle” within the last few years….but lo and behold I was WRONG. There are still tons of places where you see horses and cows mixed in with a bunch of new developments. It’s actually kinda funny.

I decided that I wanted to get out of the house–no matter how cold it was and get some shots of our beautiful surroundings. You forget how beautiful the world is when you spend most of your day cooped up in your house. I decided to focus my treck on areas around my home and it turned into an hour and a half of simple discovery. I realized how beautiful just a simple tree on a secluded street was…and how grand the rocky mountains are. We are so blessed to live in an area where we are surrounded by beauty. I have always been an ocean/green pine trees kind of person (i.e. Hawaii, and the Northwest)…my mom loves the Rocky Mountains. I’m glad I got out of the house because today I realized the beauty of Utah. (I know, kind of lame since I’ve lived here for a year now and I’m just noticing stuff!)

Stay tuned for some other pics I took….seriously, if you have the chance I challenge you to get out and take pictures of your neighborhood, you will find things you never even noticed before. I had too much fun.

Missing this little guy….

Right about now we are missing this little guy. I was looking through some pictures and came across this one of my nephew that just put a smile to my face. My nephew is the funniest little kid–always has a mischevious look on his face. He just cracks me up. I think this picture is one of the few that didn’t have boogars running down his face. I didn’t know a little kid like that could produce so much boogar….but he did, and we all just laughed about it.

We’ll be heading over to their neck of the woods come April and we are so excited. We even have a new cousin to play with since my brother and his wife had another little boy back in November. Can’t wait to see you guys!

Black & Whites

I love black and whites. The images always look clearer to me and I feel like I am drawn into the moment. I have a bunch of black and white pics of my girls downstairs in my basement and I am planning on swapping some old pics for new ones. These are a few I took today of them. It’s always tough getting them to even participate infront of the camera since I always bust it out on them and they are so over it already…but I am liking these. I am planning on printing them in all different odd sizes to give my wall some interest.

Last post of the day….

You probably think I am totally obsessed with the photo shoot with Krista…okay, maybe I am a little… I’m having so much fun playing around with them. So here is my latest. I added some texture to this image, and usually, I don’t do too much texturing, but I thought this image goes perfect with the old tattered picture vibe…and I think I like it. I’m itching for another photo shoot…seriously. I want the cold to end!!!

Senior Citizen Ad….

This is the postcard ad I am planning on disbursing out… I am still trying to figure out the best way to advertise for the senior sessions, so if you have any ideas, let me know. I figure I better get a start on it since it will be senior pics season coming up in the spring and summer!
